Chasing the changeable UK summer into the long shadows of September, Kidda straddles the Atlantic making his debut release on Brooklyns Deep Ellum Records with The Turki Dunbah EP.
Reminiscent of the loop-heavy lollopings that first appeared over a decade ago with his Brighton hometown brethren on the Catskills label, Dunbah offers a return to the hip hop infused drops, chops and sounds that established him as a soulbreaks maestro.
EP opener 'Everyday Cool' takes a heavy slab of early 70`s soul and slathers it with rolling beats, teased Rhodes melodies and a spot of G-Funk, served up on a hot plate of hip hop.
Talk Hertz is 90's jeep beats on an acid dub trip, throwing 60's soul through the 303 in a haze of psychedelic distortion.
'In The Rough' comes out bragging with its looped strings and a sliced and diced, hooky-as-fuck chorus, replete with oversized beats and a beatbox backdrop
A delicious, full fat serving of dancefloor-capable funk to see out the summer.
